More Information about Jellurgal Journey
Beginning with an audio/visual presentation in our Dreaming Amphitheatre followed by an Ochre Ceremony with ochre sourced from the mountain itself, you will learn about the Aboriginal history and culture of the Gold Coast, meet a traditional land owner and hear the dreamtime stories associated with the creation of Jellurgal.
Discover facts about traditional life pre-contact, bush tucker, fishing, hunting and learn about the important ecological practices and connection to the land displayed by the Yugambeh speaking people for thousands of years.
You will finish your tour in the Dreaming Amphitheatre where you will see Aboriginal dancers up close as they tell stories through song and movement.
For a memory that will last a lifetime, have a photo taken of your group with the dancers.
Tour times
Jellurgal Walkabout tours run daily Monday - Friday, starting at 10am.
Minimum booking
Due to the costs of presenting this tour, four or more adults are required in a single booking for the tour to run.
Duration
Approximately 3 hours (this can vary depending on the physical capabilities of the participants)
Wheelchair and pram accessibility
The Oceanview track offers limited wheelchair and pram assisted access. Tours can be conducted only along this track only if approved in advance.
The Rainforest circuit is not accessible by wheelchairs or prams.
Difficulty
The Oceanview track makes its way along the coastline leading from Tallebudgera Creek around to Burleigh Point. Your tour can be limited to this track on request.
The track is 1.2km one-way and a 'Grade 2' walk, meaning that the track is a hardened surface with gentle hill sections and occasional steps. No bushwalking experience is required and wheelchair assisted and pram assisted access is possible.
For the full tour experience, guides will also take you up and over the mountain via the Rainforest circuit. This route combined with the Oceanview track is approximately a 2km long return trip and a 'Grade 3' walk, meaning tracks have short, steep hill sections, a rough surface and many steps. It is suitable for most ages and fitness levels however some bushwalking experience is recommended.
What to bring
