WELCOME TO JELLURGAL: BOOK NOW for our tours and services

Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre began its journey in 1995 as a cultural bus tour of the Gold Coast region.

Kalwun Development Corporation Ltd (Kalwun) established Paradise Dreaming Tours to take visitors to culturally significant sites across the Gold Coast, including Burleigh Heads.

Paradise Dreaming was authorised and established by the descendants of the Kombumerri and Ngarang-Wal (Nerang River) people.

Paradise Dreaming operated until 2012, when the opportunity arose to initiate a lease with the Queensland Government at their Visitor Information Centre situated at the base of Burleigh Head National Park (which the Traditional Custodians call Jellurgal). Kalwun seized this opportunity and established what is now known as Jellurgal Aboriginal Cultural Centre, incorporating not only guided tours of the headland, but also an Aboriginal art gallery and historical boardwalk display as well as artefacts and gifts for sale.

Our tour offering now incorporates an audio/visual presentation of the Aboriginal history of the overall Gold Coast area in place of the bus journey and conducts group tours of the entire national park area which includes numerous significant sites and features that demonstrate traditional practices of the custodians of the area.

In 2015, Jellurgal won the Partnership category in the Queensland Reconciliation Awards in conjunction with the Queensland Government and, in 2019, received a High Commended Award at the Queensland Tourism Awards.
