More Information about Jellurgal and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary Tour
Start your tour with an audio/visual presentation in our Dreaming Amphitheatre followed by a private didgeridoo performance by a traditional land owner. After an Ochre Ceremony with ochre sourced from the mountain itself, you will take a guided walk around the “Dreaming Mountain”, Jellurgal, where culturally significant sites have played an important role in the lives of Aboriginal people.
You will learn about the Aboriginal history and culture of the Gold Coast and hear the Dreamtime stories associated with the creation of Jellurgal.
Discover facts about traditional life pre-contact, bush tucker, fishing and hunting and learn about the important ecological practices and connection to the land displayed by the Yugambeh speaking people for thousands of years.
At the conclusion of your Jellurgal tour (approximately 11am), make the 10-minute journey to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (please note that you will need to make your own transport arrangements) and explore the park at your leisure.
With over 1,000 native animals, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is home to one of the largest collections of Australian wildlife in the world. There are many interactive wildlife opportunities to experience. Cuddle a koala, feed a kangaroo, hold a baby crocodile or snake or visit the onsite Wildlife Hospital. The Sanctuary also offers a range of daily wildlife shows at different times throughout the day. To fully immerse yourself in Aboriginal culture, be sure to catch the Aboriginal Dance Show at 3.30pm.
Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary closes at 5pm.
Duration
Approximately 8 hours (this will vary depending on how long you would like to spend at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary) from 9am - 5pm.

Difficulty
The Oceanview track makes its way along the coastline leading from Tallebudgera Creek around to Burleigh Point. Your tour can be limited to this track on request.
The track is 1.2km one-way and a 'Grade 2' walk, meaning that the track is a hardened surface with gentle hill sections and occasional steps. No bushwalking experience is required and wheelchair assisted and pram assisted access is possible.
For the full tour experience, guides will also take you up and over the mountain via the Rainforest circuit. This route combined with the Oceanview track is approximately a 2km long return trip and a 'Grade 3' walk, meaning tracks have short, steep hill sections, a rough surface and many steps. It is suitable for most ages and fitness levels however some bushwalking experience is recommended.
Detailed information on Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary's grounds and walkways can be found in their Accessibility Statement.
