Jellurgal and David Fleay's Wildlife Park
(Full Day Tour)
Starts at Jellurgal Cultural Centre

Jellurgal invites you to embark on a journey of discovery as you explore the secret world of the first inhabitants of this region, the Yugambeh people.

Designed for international travellers, interstate visitors and locals wishing to learn more about the Aboriginal history of their region, Jellurgal Dreaming is a five hour Aboriginal Cultural Experience.

Part One: Jellurgal Dreaming includes an informative overview of the Aboriginal history of the Gold Coast in the ‘Dreaming Amphitheatre’.

Depart the centre for a brief bus trip to David Fleays Wildlife Park, where you can see Australian native wildlife such as kangaroos, koalas, crocodiles and brolgas in their native habitat. Wander along the pristine mangrove boardwalk and learn about the importance of these coastal tracts to the Aboriginal people.

Part Two: Return to Jellurgal for a mesmerising, traditional Aboriginal corroboree.

You begin your Jellurgal trek with an ancient smoking ceremony and ochre anointment on the beach at Burleigh Cove, performed by members of the local Yugambeh tribe.

Visit the midden and other significant Aboriginal sites along the way. The Jellurgal trek takes 60 minutes but there is an option to return to the Centre at the midden, 15 minutes into the Jellurgal Dreaming Trek.
